Soul Retrieval: Teaching and Ritual

with Lama Kalsang Nyima

May 4, 2024

  • $125.00 – Registration, includes materials to make Dadar
  • $108.00 – Registration, bring your own Dadar

According to the Tibetan spiritual traditions, the five elements of earth, water, fire, air, and space pervade all of life and as the essential components of our entire worldly existence.

The soul (la) is said to be composed of these elements at a very subtle level — and it is believed that a traumatic event or other shock can cause an individual to lose connection with the elements and become dispirited.

The shamanic rites of soul retrieval (la gu) is a way of calling on the living essence of the elements — the elemental spirits — to balance and heal the individual. At this retreat, Lama Kalsang will teach about the purpose of soul retrieval in the morning. He will teach how to make a dadar, a traditional ritual arrow. In the afternoon, Lama Kalsang will perform the soul retrieval ritual for all in attendance.

Materials will be provided to make your own dadar. If you have a dadar at home that you would like to bring, you are welcome to do so.
And, if you have a melong or turquoise soul stone, you are welcome to bring them to attach to the dadar you make.
