with Lama Kalsang Nyima
September 19, 2026
Discover the sacred art of Tibetan calligraphy during this special daylong retreat with Lama Kalsang Nyima, resident lama of Ligmincha Mexico and a renowned Tibetan calligraphy artist.
In this experiential workshop, Lama Kalsang will teach Tibetan calligraphy as a path of creativity, meditation, and contemplative practice. Participants will learn how to use the brush as an instrument of awareness while exploring the forms and meaning of many sacred Tibetan syllables, as well as Tibetan scripts. Lama Kalsang will give special emphasis on OM. Among its sacred symbolism, it is the seed syllable for Sherap Chamma, the Mother of Wisdom and Love. The day will combine instruction, demonstrations, and plenty of hands-on calligraphy practice in a relaxed, art-studio atmosphere. Lama Kalsang will work with participants as they develop their technique and experience how the creative process itself can become a form of meditation.
No previous calligraphy, art, or meditation experience is required. Brushes, ink, paper and a light lunch will be provided. Simply bring your curiosity, creativity, and inspiration.
